All team staff and board members are required to undergo background checks every two years and complete Safe Sport training every year. Information on how to complete the background check will be sent out at the beginning of the season.

Concussion training is not required but if  you would like to take it, it can be accessed here: https://www.train.org/cdctrain/course/1089818/

The required Safe Sport training can be accessed using the following instructions.

1. Go to: SAFESPORT TRAINING LINK
2.  Applicants will need to complete the information on "Sign Up" page. Existing accounts may need to have their passwords reset as detailed in the following information:
As of 12/10/21: The US Center for SafeSport transitioned out of the platform that was being used, and into a new one. This new platform can be found on Safesporttrained.org. 
The merging of all the accounts over to this new platform has caused a voiding of all passwords. Please find the steps to take in the documents below in order to register as a new customer, OR reset your password to login to your existing account.

3. If prompted, log into the new account you just created. 
4. Click on "Menu" and "Select Catalog" 
5. Click the Start button for "SafeSport Trained - US Soccer Federation" to complete the course. Once complete, the SafeSport certificate will automatically be uploaded into Sports Connect (Affinity) within approximately 24-48 hours. 
6. Have everyone save a copy of their certificate for their own files!

HELPFUL HINTS
- Make sure Team Officials use the same name and email address as their SportsConnect (formerly Affinity) profile. This is how the SafeSport training certificate will automatically upload to their Sports Connect profile. Manually uploading certificates should not be necessary. (Note - this has not been GUSA's experience so make sure to save a copy of your certificate and email it to [email protected])
- The training will take at least 90 minutes to complete. Applicants can start it and come back to it later.

REFRESHER COURSE UPDATE
- One year after completion of SafeSport Trained, a user will complete Refresher 1. The refresher course will automatically appear in the user's SafeSport account.
- A year after that, they will complete Refresher 2
- Refresher 3 for the third year will be available at the beginning of September
