  • Fall 2020 - we are planning to have GUSA season as long as Virginia remains in phase 3 or greater. Changes from a typical season will include required and recommended actions in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Please see our COVID-19 Information page for updates. 
  • We will have a U14 coed team.  Players that were on the waitlist have been notified and should complete registration.
  • We did not have enough interest to form high school teams.
  • Refund policy for Fall 2020: If the season is canceled due to a COVID related shutdown before the first week of scheduled games, 100% of the registration fee minus the $6.99 in processing fees can be refunded.  If the season is canceled after the second week of scheduled games, 50% of the registration fee minus the $6.99 in processing fees can be refunded. If the season is canceled after the fourth week of scheduled games, no refunds can be given. There may be an option to receive credit toward a future season in lieu of a refund.



  • Register players online at http://www.gusasoccer.net/default.aspx. Go to the "Login" tab (top, right corner of the website).  
  • If you are new to GUSA, simply select "Register" to open an account and proceed to register a player.
  • There will be no early bird registration for Fall 2020. 
  • After early bird registration ends, the regular registration fee is $115 per player.  There is also $6.99 in processing fees added to each order. These fees cover our registration system and credit card processing fees. A family discount may apply to orders with multiple players. 
  • Registration fees cover club expenses associated with referees, field maintenance, insurance and capital improvements.
  • Please check our website often for detail on Spring and Fall registrations.  


  • Beginning Fall 2020, according to US Youth Soccer, the birth years for youth soccer organizations are grouped as follows:

         Age Group  /  Birth Year(s)
         U6  (YMCA)   /  2015
         U8     /  2013, 2014
         U10   /  2011, 2012
         U12   /  2009, 2010
         U14   /  2007, 2008


  • Players in U10, U12, & U14 (Upper Division) are responsible for ordering their own uniforms and uniform costs are not included in the registration fee.
  • Players in U10, U12, & U14 (Upper Division) are required to have a white GUSA jersey, a red GUSA jersey, black shorts, and black soccer socks.
  • Players in U10, U12, & U14 (Upper Division) uniforms may be ordered online during the Fall or Spring open registrations - check our homepage during open registration for a link to the online store. Use coupon code GUSA to receive $5 shipping. Uniform orders take 2 to 4 weeks to process.
  • Players ordering uniforms from Premier Soccer may choose a number for their jerseys
  • If you have items that still fit from a previous season, you do not need to purchase new uniforms for an upcoming season.
  • Players in U8 Lower Division will receive a soccer ball, a white GUSA jersey, and a red GUSA jersey, compliments of GUSA.
  • Players in U8 Lower Division are responsible for purchasing black shorts and black soccer socks.
  • All players are responsible for purchasing cleats and shin guards on their own - cleats and shin guards are required for all players in all divisions for safety reasons.

  • U8 uses a size 3 soccer ball. U8 players will receive a ball as pat of their registration fee.
  • U10 and U12 use a size 4 soccer ball. U10 and U12 players should purchase their own ball and bring it to practice.
  • U14 uses a size 5 soccer ball. U14 players should purchase their own ball and bring it to practice.

  • When you register, please make sure you indicate which coach, if any, that you want your child to play for. Although we cannot guarantee that your child will be placed with that coach, we will do our best to do so.
  • You may also indicate practice night preferences.  Please be aware practice schedules are set by coaches and may be limited by field availability. If your child has a conflict with the team practice schedule, the coach will attempt to facilitate a team change or other accommodation.



  • Spring games for U10, U12 and U14 Upper Division teams begin approximately mid-March and continue mid-to-late May.
  • Fall games for U10, U12 and U14 Upper Division teams begin September and continue to mid-November.
  • Games are scheduled on Saturdays.  Make-up games may be scheduled on Sundays or weeknights.
  • Practices for U10, U12 and U14 Upper Division teams are held twice per week for 1.5 hrs. and start approximately 2 to 4 weeks prior to the first game. 
  • Practices are typically held either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday, 5:30-7:00 or 6:00-7:30 however, practice days and times are determined by the head coach.
  • Primary fields used for practices and games are located at Leakes Mill Park.
  • GUSA also participates in local, cross county recreational leagues so Upper Division game locations will vary.


  • Spring games for U8 Lower Division teams begin approximately mid-March and continue through May.
  • Fall games for U8 Lower Division teams begin approximately mid-September and continue through October.
  • U8 games are scheduled for Saturday mornings at Leakes Mill Park, usually 9:00 AM or 10:00 AM.
  • Make-up games may be scheduled for Saturday afternoons.
  • Practices for U8 teams are held at Leakes Mill Park one weekday evening and practice times will be determined by the head coach.
  • U8 teams practice once a week for 45 minutes to one hour.  U8 practice starts the week of the first game. 


  • Scholarships are available for full or partial registration cost and/or jerseys. Players will still need to purchase cleats, shin guards, black shorts, black socks, and a soccer ball.  If this presents a hardship, please include this in the scholarship application as we may be able to provide those as well

  • GUSA and the YMCA partner to offer Lower Division level programs in Goochland Co. 
  • For  U4, U5, or U6 youth soccer, register with the YMCA
  • For U8 youth soccer, register with GUSA at http://www.gusasoccer.net/default.aspx



  • If you are interested in coaching or serving on the GUSA Board, please indicate your volunteer interest during registration or contact us at any time.
  • GUSA relies 100 percent on volunteers who serve as Board members, Coaches, Student Referees and Team Parents.
  • Positions to fill beginning the Fall 2020 season include Referee Coordinator, Web Administrator, Treasurer, and Board Member(s)-at large.
  • There is an ongoing need for Coach and Assistant Coach roles.  Coaches are provided training material and no soccer experience is needed to get started.
  • All GUSA coaches are required to submit information and clear a background check and complete Safe Sport training.
